What is rolled gold?
Rolled gold is a metal alloy consisting of a layer of gold that is "rolled" (i.e., flattened) and fused onto a base metal, usually copper or brass, using a process of high pressure and heat. Unlike plated (or gilded) gold, rolled gold has a thicker layer of gold, which gives it greater wear resistance and longevity.
Why choose 18k rolled gold?
- Superior Durability: The rolled gold layer is thicker than gold plating, meaning it doesn't fade as quickly. This allows the jewelry to retain its shine and color for an extended period of time.
- Cheaper than solid gold: Rolled gold is a more affordable alternative to solid gold jewelry while still offering quality close to that of pure gold.
- Aesthetics: 18k rolled gold retains a shine and appearance similar to pure gold, allowing for very aesthetic jewelry at a lower cost.
- Fewer allergies: Because rolled gold does not sit on a fully exposed base metal, there is less risk of an allergic reaction.
